Guidelines for your Evaluations

Perhaps some of you are turning your attention today toward writing Martinmas Term Evaluations for your students. Or, maybe some of you have already done so but want to make sure that what you have done is along the lines of what we're hoping for. This post is for you!

THE DEADLINE FOR TURNING IN EVALUTIONS IS

NEXT TUESDAY, DECEMBER 5.

Below you will find a file you can download or print [in addition to being able to glance at it here] which should give you a sense of what we are looking for. Each teacher does NOT need to produce a doc that is exactly the same, but do feel free to duplicate this file and use it if you find it helpful.

PLEASE NOTE, THIS FILE IS A SAMPLE...you will need to pull it into your own files if you want to fill it out for your students. If you duplicate the file, it should mean you can mess with it.

When you have filled out an evaluation for each of your students, please send a pdf copy via email to THE PARENT, THE STUDENT, AND Cc'd to Mrs. Conner and Mrs. Wassell. We will keep one set of evaluations tucked away for each class, should any issues come up. For example, while it seems unnecessaary to share every child's evaluaation from every class with every teacher (especially since so many of the teachers are mothers), if a teacher is curious about how things are going for a particular student across the curriculum, they could reach out and consult on a case by case basis.

The guidelines about the language of Wanting, Good, and Excellent on the document applies to ALL FORMS. For those of you who will be grading Form I and II exams at LCC this week, please take a peek. We will also provide hard copies of this rubric with the Form I and II Exam booklets.

If you need guidance regarding how to use these evaluations to fill out your high school transcripts or to share them with your school district we are happy to consult.

PLEASE REMEMBER AS YOU WRITE YOUR EVALUATIONS, THAT PER OUR DISCUSSION AND DECISION THIS PAST SUMMER, YOU ARE ASKED NOT TO GIVE A 'FINAL GRADE' FOR THE TERM. Just focus on reporting all relevant information and your comments of assessment to parents.

Just to be clear - for form one I need to also fill out an evaluation in addition to their exam grading. Is that correct?

Sorry, we didn't see this question!

In case anyone else is wondering though... written evaluations are only for forms 3-6. For form 1 & 2, the comments in the exam books serve as evaluations. If a particular teacher has a concern about a particular student (either in class or in exam books) please bring it to our attention. But written evaluations for forms 1 and 2, besides the comments on the exams, are not necessary. Thank you! -Erin
