Texts and Supplies for HS and JH History

Updated: Aug 5, 2022

Mr. Vernaglia, instructing HS HISTORY, has chosen an excellent text which may be a wee bit tricky to procure, but we think we can manage! He has graciously shared a few links of used copies he found, so let's start here. For supplies, students should have:

  1. a normal lined notebook for taking notes in class,

  2. a Book of Centuries. See details here: ,

  3. and EITHER an Archive or a Commonplace Book. Details are at the same link above.

  4. The TEXT: A History of the Ancient World, by Chester Starr

Used possibilities:

WHEN YOU HAVE PURCHASED THE BOOK FOR HS HISTORY, PLEASE LEAVE A COMMENT BELOW. Mr. Vernaglia wants to be sure we secure enough copies.

Mrs. Hare and Mrs. Brianna Hughes in JH History have chosen three excellent books to cover Ancient Mesopotamia, the Ancient Greeks, and the Ancient Romans. For supplies, students should have:

  1. a simple lined notebook may come in handy for jotting things down ( While students will not be taking extensive notes in class, this will come in handy)

  2. A History Archive is required, (see this link:

  3. Students may optionally keep a Book of Centuries (the same link will explain).

  4. The Texts (links provided below)

The books can be found on Amazon, or printed on demand in excellent readable copies from Yesterday's Classics in the case of the Greeks and Romans. Here are some links to get you started:

Henry and Sophia each have a book of centuries (GBC bound, so not perfect but not terrible) they will be using. I also have a PDF file to a great BoC if anyone needs one.
