Lumen Christi Consortium
Will you help us to rebuild the culture?
Lumen Christi Consortium needs the help of family and friends. We are a cohort of homeschooling families who believe that education should be oriented toward the True, the Good, and the Beautiful...in other words, toward the Light of Christ!
We also believe that building culture takes work. We are committed, not only to pursuing a robust K-12 education in the liberal arts tradition using the Charlotte Mason Method, but also to building a vibrant Catholic Culture here in Central Massachusetts. For Lumen Christi students this includes singing, dancing, observing the natural world, studying the virtues with an aim to embody them, keeping beautiful notebooks, praying and studying Sacred Scripture, delighting in the liturgical year, and participating in a steady stream of conversations full of great ideas which spring from great books. This feast of ideas is their introduction to the Great Conversation, which will prepare them to be agents of change in a fallen world.
We are living the good life together, the hidden life at Nazareth, the Little Way. We embrace the family joys of homeschooling while celebrating the fruits of working together in community.
Would you be willing to support our efforts?
This year, our community faces some unique expenses. It was our great desire to begin learning Spanish together, which required hiring a teacher. The pedagogy we use should include both Latin and modern language, and taking this on together fulfills our commitment to raising well rounded scholars. [Next year this cost will disappear thanks to an incoming family who speaks Spanish!]. For homeschooling families on a single income, this additional cost is a stretch. We also hope to celebrate at Christmas with a formal ball led by a real caller, and to invest in a speaker/sound system that will see our community through the next round of dances, plays, graduations etc. There are always supply costs and unexpected expenses that crop up, which stretch what our yearly family fee can reasonably cover.
Our great hope is that by raising $6,000 we can shore up our finances, and step into the next academic year on solid financial ground. We truly appreciate both small and large donations to support our efforts!
